02: The Hurricane Ian Story, Lessons in Resiliency

MAIN SESSION

Pandemics and Hurricanes - real life occurrences that have had significant impact in recent times on Florida hospitals. This presentation will focus on one Florida hospital system, Lee Health located in Ft. Myers, Florida, that was significantly impacted by both the pandemic and the last hurricane to hit Florida’s west coast. The objective of this course is to focus on real life disruptions caused by these events to the health system in the area of design and constructed facility resiliency and redundancy and to analysis how the building codes were effective or not effective in protecting the patients and supporting the staff and family.
