Adopted in 44 states and Florida, the FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities is a nationally recognized standard for minimum healthcare design requirements. This session will offer a comprehensive overview of the Imaging Room classification system, including drivers, implications, specific requirements, and differences between the Hospital and Outpatient documents. Learnings will be shared from the six years since the classification system was first published. The session will also offer insight as to how the procedural context ties to room classification. It will provide clarity on how the classification system is employed in practice, while highlighting revisions between the 2018 and 2022 editions of the FGI Guidelines. Finally, a short overview of revisions proposed for 2026 will be offered as a glance to what comes next.
