The presenters will discuss the influence of technology in the design and future operations of a new surgical institute. The case study is of a design and construction that was nearly complete, with budgets established under leadership that was no longer at the organization. Under new leadership, a new healthcare information technology design team was brought on to the project to immediately assess and align the future of technology and the impact it had on the patient care experience. This included plans for an Epic migration, patient and caregiver awareness, and a heightened overall digital patient experience in perioperative care. The new technology had to meet the requirements of the adopted design codes such as FGI Guidelines.
