Evidence supports the benefits of tailoring hospital environments to the unique needs of children, even though there are some common elements of design that apply to all hospitals. The FGI Guidelines developed the first children’s hospital chapter in 2014 in recognition that children have health needs that are incredibly different from adults’ needs. This session will provide highlights of the FGI Guidelines 2018 edition and 2022 FGI Guidelines changes to the original minimum requirements for children’s hospitals, the rationale behind them, and selected examples of facilities that reflect pediatric trends.
