Lighting technology and approaches are shifting to a new paradigm by focusing not only on vision but also on human psychophysical wellbeing in interior spaces. Whether it’s artificial or natural lighting integrated into the overall illumination scheme, the infection control aspect is considered when reviewing viable strategies to address visual field satisfaction in the operating theater. This presentation focuses on several design strategies to address the deliberate integration of natural lighting into the operating room’s lighting scheme and how this can be customized to meet the needs of both surgeons and nursing staff.
