Giovanna Pillaca
Diffusion Architecture
Architect and artist who uses new technologies to speculate futures. She explores the architectural space and conceptualizes ancestral knowledge about life, death, and transgenerational cultural memory, to activate perception and affect the senses in her projects. She is also inspired by biology and its architectural applications. Her tools are artificial intelligence, computational design, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), and digital manufacturing. In 2021 she co-founded the Online Architecture Laboratory (OLA). In 2022 she co-founded 'Digital FUTURES' in Spanish. She co-founded in 2022 the digital platform of AI and Architecture: Diffusion Architecture. She teaches at ‘PUCP’ Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and 'UCAL' Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de América Latina, located in Lima. She taught at Ricardo Palma University and multiple workshops exploring the use of computational design tools to improve interdisciplinary creativity. She won competitions such as the 'Virtual Space' 2021 of ‘Fundación Telefónica Perú’ and ‘American Arts Incubator’ 2020 organized by ZERO1, the US Embassy in Peru, and UTEC. She has also presented and been published at the National Museum of Peru (MUNA), the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) of Lima, UTEC, Archdaily, and Architectural Design among other platforms and spaces, academic and artistic, national and international.
