Krista Biason, PE, SASHE is the National Electrical Engineering Practice Leader at HGA Architects and Engineers. She is a licensed electrical engineer with over 30 years of experience specializing in healthcare electrical design. Krista also has extensive experience with infrastructure upgrades and facility assessments and applies her knowledge of codes to real-world design. Regarded as a technical expert, Krista is an avid presenter and author for national and regional conferences and trade publications. Krista currently serves on the NFPA 70 (NEC) National Technical Committee-Code-Making Panel 13, focusing on articles pertaining to emergency power systems. She is a special expert for NFPA 99 Health Care Facilities Code Technical Committee on Electrical Systems (HEA-ELS) and serves on task forces for NFPA to evaluate the implementation of microgrids and alternate energy sources. She is a member of the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) guidelines committee for the Hospital Book and on the Emergency Conditions task force. She is an active member of ASHE and assists with their educational efforts. Krista received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Iowa in addition to a Bachelor of Music Degree in Clarinet Performance. In her spare time, she plays in the Minnetonka Symphony Orchestra.
