Mike is a Principal Advisor with Coffman Engineers based in Houston, TX. He holds a BS in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, and an MBA from The University of Houston. Mike is a licensed professional engineer in 6 states. Mike has more than 40 years of fire protection engineering consulting experience. Professional organization involvement includes Fellow in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) a Lifetime Member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) with past and present activity on NFPA Technical Committees including NFPA 101 - Healthcare Occupancies and Means of Egress, and NFPA 99 Correlating Committee, Fundamentals Technical Committee and Technical Committee on Piping Systems. Mike was the 2020 President of SFPE and a current Member of the NFPA Standards Council. He is a Life Safety Code and NFPA 99 instructor for NFPA. In addition, he is a Fellow Member of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE). Mike has authored numerous technical articles and made presentations at various conferences and symposiums. Mike provides consulting to architects, facility managers, and building owners around the world.
