Stephen is a licensed architect and dedicated mental & behavioral health planner at Stantec. A proponent of “architect as an advocate” for colleagues, clients, and communities alike, he believes strongly in leadership through service. Stephen has served diverse client systems, including Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Cleveland Clinic, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, helping to develop the VA’s new Inpatient Mental Health Design Guide. Stephen was named a Behavioral Health Business Future Leader in 2023 and Stephen served on the AIA Strategic Council, leading their Mental Health + Architecture Incubator during the pandemic. He currently serves as Associate Director for the Design in Mental Health Network Board headquartered in the UK, is a Founding Member of the Center for Health Design’s Behavioral & Mental Health Environment Network, and is a US Representative to the International Union of Architect's Public Health Group, championing their Young Leaders. A member of the American Association of Emergency Psychiatry and of the American Indian Council of Architects & Engineers, Stephen was selected as a global ULI Health Leader and is a NextCity Vanguard Fellow.
