With over 40 years of advisory and planning experience in the healthcare sector- Doug King is an influencer in the healthcare facilities arena, blending involvement in design/planning, research and academia.  He frequently speaks at conferences and universities across the US on artificial intelligence and robotics in achieving logistics automation in healthcare facilities.  He is also a noted subject matter expert on large scale/urban hospital developments.

While leading complex award-winning healthcare projects, Doug has conducted IRB approved, funded research.  He has academic appointments including the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign, Northwestern University and KU’s Health and Wellness Program.   He was chosen as an HCD10 honoree, by Healthcare Design Magazine as the top Healthcare Architect in the US for 2021.
