Scott Waltz

AHCA

Early in Scott’s career, he was drawn to health care architecture by the challenges of this highly technical field and rewards of creating healthcare environments that are safe and promote healing. This pursuit led him to join the Agency for Health Care Administration’s Office of Plans and Construction (OPC) over 10 years ago. His first five years with the office were spent as an architectural reviewer with a team that covered the Big Bend area and Hillsborough County. In January 2011, Scott was promoted to the position of Architect Supervisor. In this role he supervised and monitored the work the office’s architectural unit consisting of nine architects.

Currently he is the Bureau Chief of the Office of Plans and Construction and supervises 4 statewide offices of architects and engineers in the review and approval of health care design and construction in the state of Florida. He is the state’s Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for all design and construction issues of the health care facilities reviewed and approved by the state.  He also develops and revises the rules and standards for the design and construction of hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory surgery centers, and intermediate care facilities for the developmentally disabled and serves on the FGI Guidelines revision committee.
