April Woods, a Senior Vice President, and the Florida Building Systems Director, has played a key role in engineering mechanical solutions for major healthcare projects for close to two decades. Her collaborative mindset has made her a valued team member on several integrated projects resulting in high-performing buildings. April’s passion since the beginning of her career at WSP USA has been on sustainable design and she is particularly proud of her involvement early in her career in the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas project, which was the first healthcare facility to be awarded LEED Platinum in the world. During the pandemic, April designed and implemented several pandemic mechanical solutions that led to round table discussions and a publication in Consulting-Specifying Engineer (CSE) Magazine “Navigating hospital ventilation design during COVID-19.” April is a registered Professional Engineer in multiple states and has both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University. April received one of CSE’s “40 Under 40” Awards in 2012 and currently serves on the CSE Advisory Board. She is also a founding board member for the AMFP South Florida chapter.
