Jim Peterkin is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer with TLC Engineering. With a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University and over 30 years of highly specialized experience in fire protection and life safety engineering, Jim is uniquely qualified in leading multidisciplinary teams to engineer building systems that properly detect fires, control the spread of fire and provide a safe means for occupants to egress a building in the event of a fire-related event.


Jim is the current chair of the NFPA Healthcare Section and the ASHE – Regulatory Affairs Committee. Jim serves as the Principal Member on nine NFPA Technical committees including NFPA 1 – Fire Code, NFPA 13 – Standard for the installation of Automatic Sprinklers, NFPA 99 – Healthcare Facilities Code and NFPA 101 – Life Safety Code. He has a thorough understanding of the model building codes as well as the NFPA codes.
