Stephen Szutenbach is a licensed architect and interior designer based in Florida, with a Master of Architecture from the University of Florida and dual philosophy degrees from Regis University and the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He is a Principal at FCA and serves as Director of the firm’s Orlando office.
Stephen brings over 15 years of experience in the design and delivery of complex healthcare, educational, and cultural projects. Before joining FCA, he was a Studio Leader and Senior Project Manager at AdventHealth, where he led several major initiatives, including the 595,000 SF West Tower at AdventHealth Orlando—the largest capital project in the system’s history.
Prior to AdventHealth, Stephen was a Senior Designer and Project Director at HKS Architects, leading award-winning work for BayCare, Orlando Health, Halifax Health, and Cleveland Clinic. His expertise spans high-acuity outpatient facilities, surgical and imaging suites, and large-scale hospital expansions.
Stephen is also an accomplished educator, having taught at the University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, Valencia College, and the University of Florida. An active member of the American Institute of Architects, he currently serves as Co-Chair of the AIA Orlando Design Awards Committee. His work has earned multiple AIA awards and continues to influence the evolution of healthcare environments.
